Apatite- Geo Journal Week 3
This is the mineral Apatite.
It is very common in
Iron County.
This is the most common phosphate mineral.
It had a white streak.
It couldn’t be scratched with a nail but could be scratched
with a knife.
Its hardness would be
about a 5.
Upon reaserching, I found that it has a
hexagonal crystal shape. It is also
used in fertilizers because it contains Phosphorus which is needed by
plants.
